I’m sorry, but some things I can’t let slide.

I’m a big fan of the truth. Revisionist history makes me itch. I can’t bite my tongue on this one.

Dats dat shit I don’t like!

Black Is Global

I hate the term African American. It has always annoyed me. I understand how white people may use it when feeling the need to be politically correct fearing they may offend someone.

The term seems inaccurate and divisive. Unless you know for a fact a person is American and actually from Africa its wrong. Also its too local. Black is global. What if the person happens to be visiting from Toronto? You can’t call him or her African American, but they are Black.

When I hear Black people say African American it always makes me cringe a little. I can understand white people feeling uncomfortable, but a Black man or woman should be able to own it and wrap themselves in it.

It’s the first and most important step in “How To Be Black”, to borrow the title to Baratunde Thurston’s book.

I was watching that Next Food Network Star show (or whatever it is called). This white woman had to make chicken and waffles based on a recipe from a soul food restaurant. During her presentation, she started to say some ish about the woman who gave her the recipe being this beautiful black woman but then she tried to change it to African American and basically fucked up her whole presentation. It was hilarious. She was sent home.

I hate when people say that they are far from perfect when they are actually far from decent.

They aren’t in the same hemisphere as good half of the time.

How do I possibly like this more, it seems impossible.

welp

i’m gonna reblog this whenever it comes on my dash.

If you are keeping someone around that you know is interested in you as more than a friend and you don’t feel the same way, you are friendzoning.  No one treats everyone the same.  You treat the people you are interested in differently than you treat those that you are merely friends with.

Women know when someone is merely being polite or friendly and when someone is interested in something more.  Not acknowledging friendzoning is more than a little disingenuous.  It’s not looking for sex as much as looking for love.

This tweet is too dense for words.

Black Hollywood

We will not have arrived at true progress until there’s a Black William H. Macy & Patton Oswalt.

I need The Avengers DVD yesterday. I want 24 hours of extras on it!
